College Admission Essays

There is no need to hire expensive tutoring agencies or go it alone and wonder if you have written something that truly demonstrates how interesting you are. You and I together will discover the right “story” to tell and will write it in a way that best expresses the topic and presents you as intriguing, insightful, caring, motivated, intelligent and, above all, likeable and an asset to the college community.

I know the pitfalls to avoid and what the admissions’ committee likes to see whether the essay is in response to a prompt on the Common Application, a supplemental essay, or other school specific written response.

 I am not only experienced with the college application process, I am a published writer who understands how to strike the right tone, find the best words, and create the most effective story trajectory, while avoiding the predictable and the cliched. My process has shown itself to work—all of my many students have gone on to attend a college at the top of their list.

We can meet at my home or yours, and, typically, the later stages of the essay can progress through email. Skype and zoom are also options.

Graduating from high school and heading to college is such an exciting time!  As the mother of two boys who attended Bowdoin College and UCLA, I know how wonderful this experience can be and that it should not be marred with essay writing anxiety. The admissions’ essays can be an enjoyable exercise in self-discovery and self-expression.
